COVID-19 claiming from 1 October

Eligible NIP-funded COVID-19 vaccinations given from 1 October 2026 are claimed under NIPVIP.

A new NIP COVID-19 Eligibility field records which NIP criterion the patient meets – age, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status, or severe immunocompromise. CVCP claims for vaccinations given up to 30 September can still be submitted until 31 October. Read more on the PPA website.

The AIR encounter form with Vaccine Type set to NIP and the NIP COVID-19 Eligibility dropdown open, listing Aged 75 years and over, Aged 65–74 years, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander aged 50–74 years, and Aged 18 years and over with severe immunocompromise

The NIP/Commonwealth vaccine type now displays as NIP.
