Using encounter panels
The side rail on the encounter screen – alerts, claim eligibility, notes, immunisation history, and the patient profile.
The encounter screen has a right-hand rail with side panels for the context you most often need while you're recording the encounter. Tap a rail button to open its panel – each opens with a title header you can expand to fullscreen or close.
Clinical Alerts stand out: the button shows a highlighted tile with a count of the items to review (red when any is critical). The other tools show a quiet dot when there's content to look at – a note, a vital, dispense history. So a count always means something needs action, while a dot just means there's something there.
Which panels appear depends on the encounter. The patient profile only shows when the encounter has a customer, the immunisation history only shows for vaccination services, and the Dispense panel only shows on medication services (such as a MedsCheck) once the patient is linked to your dispense system. Some services also add their own panels – for example, an integrative medicine consult shows a Questionnaire panel, and a UTI consult shows a Reference panel with the protocol for your jurisdiction. So the rail you see varies from one encounter to the next.
Panels
Alerts
Things worth fixing before you submit – missing Medicare, missing postcode, and live alerts raised as you fill in the form. The rail shows a tile with a count of the items to review – orange, or red when any is critical. See the Alerts panel.
Claim eligibility
A live preview of which programs would accept the encounter on submission, with the reason per vaccine where they wouldn't. Indicative only – see how claim eligibility checks work.
Notes
The customer-service notes thread for every service in the encounter. The rail shows a dot when there are notes.
Immunisation history
The customer's prior immunisations as recorded in AIR. Open by default for vaccination encounters so the history is visible while you pick a vaccine.
Dispense
The patient's dispense history from your connected dispense system, so you can bring their medicines into the encounter – for example, to reconcile medicines during a MedsCheck. Shows on medication services (such as a MedsCheck) once the patient is linked to dispense; see Connecting your dispense system.
Vitals
Record vitals – such as blood pressure, heart rate, and blood glucose – directly in the encounter. Readings save to the patient's record when you complete the encounter. See Recording vitals.
Patient profile
A condensed view of the customer profile – identity, contact details, identifiers (Medicare, IHI, DVA), and any active flags.
Rail actions
A couple of rail buttons run an action instead of opening a panel:
- Schedule follow up – opens the Create Booking sheet with the encounter's patient pre-selected.
- Attachments – opens the upload sheet to add a file to every service in the encounter. The rail shows a count of attachments already on the encounter.
