How-to

Setting trading hours

Configure your site's weekly operating schedule.

Trading hours tell Light when your pharmacy is open. They control what times appear on the calendar, what the public booking portal offers customers, and when resources are available by default.

Steps

  1. Open Trading Hours

Go to Settings›Trading Hours. The current weekly schedule is shown in a table, day by day.

  2. Edit

Tap Edit. The Edit Trading Hours sheet opens with each day's time ranges editable.

  3. Set your hours

For each day, add one or more open time ranges. Most pharmacies have a single range (e.g. 9:00am–6:00pm) but split-day operations (morning + afternoon with a lunch closure) are supported — add a second range for the afternoon.

Leave a day blank to be closed that day.

  4. Save

Tap Save Changes. The new schedule takes effect immediately — future bookings can only be made within the updated hours.

Multiple ranges per day

A day can have multiple open periods. Useful for:

  • Split-day operations — closed for lunch, open morning and afternoon as separate ranges
  • Clinics — a flu-clinic morning followed by regular afternoon opening at different effective hours

Add ranges in the order they occur; they can't overlap on the same day.

Resources can override

By default, every resource follows the site's trading hours. A resource can have its own schedule — useful for specialist consultation rooms, part-time staff, or equipment that's only available on certain days. See Managing resource availability.

What trading hours affect

  • The calendar — slots outside trading hours are off-grid by default (switch to Full day to see them)
  • The public booking portal — customers can only book within trading hours
  • Resource availability — resources following site hours are only bookable during those hours
  • Run sheets — printed run sheets show the day within trading hours

What trading hours don't affect

  • Existing bookings outside the new hours — they stay. Reschedule or delete them if they shouldn't run
  • Service-specific availability — an offering can further restrict when it's bookable via its own availability constraint (but can't extend beyond trading hours)
  • Public holidays — those are managed separately; see Holiday and exception dates
