Blocking time on the calendar
Reserve a slot for lunch, a meeting, or anything that isn't a customer booking.
Block time when a resource or the whole site isn't available for bookings — lunch breaks, team meetings, stock counts, training. Blocked time appears on the calendar and prevents anyone (staff or public) from booking over it.
For recurring closures like public holidays, use a trading hours exception instead — see Holiday and exception dates.
Steps
- Open the Add menu
On the Calendar, open the dropdown next to Add (top right) and choose Block time. The Block Time sheet opens.
- Give it a title
Enter something recognisable — "Lunch break", "Team meeting", "Stocktake". The title is shown on the calendar grid.
- Pick date and time
Choose the date. If it's a whole-day block, turn All day on. Otherwise set the start time and duration in minutes.
- Select resources
Pick at least one resource. The block applies to those resources only — others remain available. To close the whole site, select every resource.
- Add notes (optional)
Free-text notes for yourself or other staff.
- Save
The block appears on the calendar and the slot is no longer bookable.
Removing a block
Tap the block on the calendar and choose Delete from the menu. No reason required — blocks aren't customer-facing.
Block vs trading hours exception
| Use | For |
|---|---|
| Block time | Ad-hoc, specific day or resource — today's lunch, this afternoon's stocktake |
| Trading hours exception | Recurring or all-site closures — public holidays, the week between Christmas and New Year |
A trading hours exception applies to every resource at the site and is honoured by the public booking portal without needing individual blocks.
