Booking statuses

Every status a booking can have, what it means, and when it changes.

Every booking has a single status that reflects where it is in its lifecycle. The status badge appears on the booking detail page, the Bookings list, the Calendar, and the Dashboard.

Primary statuses

Every booking is in exactly one of these states at a time.

StatusMeaningWhen it's set
BookedThe booking is scheduled and the resource is reserved. On creation. Walk-ins start here too.
AttendedThe service was delivered.Set by staff from Attendance on the booking detail page. See Marking attendance.
MissedThe customer didn't show up.Set by staff from Attendance. Never automatic.
CancelledThe booking was deleted. On deletion. See Deleting a booking.

An internal Checked In state exists in the booking data model and appears in the Bookings status filter, but there's no in-app button to set it — staff move bookings directly from Booked to Attended or Missed.

Other indicators

Alongside the primary status badge, the booking surfaces a few extra indicators. How each one renders varies by surface — list, calendar, detail page — so the table describes meaning rather than prescribing a look.

IndicatorMeaning
Walk-InCreated via the Walk-In option rather than scheduled in advance.
VoucherOne or more services on the booking have a voucher applied. Hover to see codes.
Held (hourglass icon)A temporary hold during the customer-facing booking flow. Expires automatically if not confirmed. On the Bookings list it appears as a small hourglass badge with a hover tooltip; on the Calendar, as a plain hourglass icon on the event.
Past DueReplaces the status badge when the booking's end time has passed but it's still Booked. A prompt to mark it Attended or Missed.

Status transitions

Booked ─┬─► Attended
        ├─► Missed
        └─► Cancelled
  • Attended and Missed are set manually from Attendance on the booking detail page
  • Cancellation is available from any prior state via deletion
  • Attended and Missed are terminal — there's no Undo in the UI. To change an attended booking, delete it and create a new one
