FluMist® is now claimable under the NSW Free Intranasal (Limited) program for children aged 5–17 who struggle with getting a needle, from 27 May 2026.

NSW Free FluMist — now covered for ages 5–17. NSW Health has expanded the NSW Free Intranasal (Limited) program (effective 27 May 2026) so FluMist® is now covered for children aged 5–17 (inclusive) who struggle with getting a needle, on top of the existing 2–4 cohort. No additional eligibility assessment or documentation is required.
The encounter's Claim eligibility preview applies the new rules from 27 May onwards; the 2–4 cohort behaviour is unchanged.
